Freedom From Fear & Guilt

Years ago I was trained to be a volunteer to visit and pray for people in Palliative Care (which is where people are placed in their last days of life on earth). While I was there, I discovered that their main concerns were: Fear and guilt. Fear mostly of the unknown, and death itself. And then guilt – they would see their lives’ misdeeds and mistakes they made in the past sailing before them, and experienced guilt. I could understand clearly what their concerns were, because at a younger age myself, having being tormented by those two issues, fear and guilt, I was wonderfully delivered and freed from the torment when I accepted Jesus as my Savior!
Now, one of my best times is when I listen to a special song on YouTube – called “I’m Free” sung by Lynda Randle. It reminds me and refreshes me again of the Great Grace & Mercy of God!!
May His Blessings of Mercy and Grace be upon you abundantly today, because He truly Loves you again and again!!!

God Loves Our Grateful Hearts

Many years ago when I was a younger man, there was a preacher who came to give a seminar on prayer. It was a week of evenings. He had many good points and many steps on how to approach and contact God, and get results. Actually, it was very good! He had steps for this and steps for that. I filled out my notebooks, many at that time.
Watching a program on TV many years after, there was this little elderly man who was being interviewed on a Christian station. As he started talking and answering questions, I recognized that this was the same guy who had given the prayer seminars many years earlier! When asked by the interviewer how his conferences on prayer were going these days and what all was the latest, this man’s answer was very short and he threw his hands up in the air, and he said this is what it is all about, in 3 words: “Thank You Jesus!” And the interviewer said, “Yes, carry on…” or something like that! But the man said, “that is it!” Out of our hearts of gratitude, we can say “Thank you Jesus!”.
God loves a grateful heart! Any natural father looks for a heart of gratitude in their children, and our Father God does the same! He created us because He loves us, and we love Him in return!
God loves you very, very much!!!

Thy Will Be Done

This is part of the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus left to us; I am sure everybody knows it! We are God’s creation, we will not ever understand just how deep His love is for us, and His ways are the best ways for us. In 1996, my first wife and I had been married 41 years. It was a very good marriage. We had five children, three living. Our family relationship was excellent. Being married 41 years, my wife had one day noticed a strange knee problem. She went to the doctors and what happened after all was said and done, it was found that she had bone cancer. In talking with the doctor myself, he told me that it was one of the worst cancers you could get and there was no treatment left for her. Of course, we cried, we prayed, and within a few weeks she passed away. After all our prayers, and our expectations, our faith, and many, many others praying for us as well, the Lord took her home to be with Him. We were crushed. Of course, after much grieving and crying and sadness, these kinds of things you just cannot understand Why, and really the only thing we could believe was that scripture: His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. After all, He is the one that runs the big computer! He created us and His plans are always best for us! At the same time, we cry and grieve and we feel the pain and loss. Myself again, having being married to her 41 years, really felt it. She was the best thing in my life. Of course, at the beginning, there were lots of questions, and lots of Why’s!!?? Why now, why her, WHY…. This was the best time of our life! But the “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” keeps ringing in my ear. After all, He is the Creator and He is the One who created us all. His ways are just different than my ways, and they are the Best!
Well almost 17 years later, life was moving on as usual. My only daughter comes to me and says, “Dad I have been diagnosed with cancer.” So the thing to do again, we kept our expectations, trusting the Lord, and got into prayer of course, exercising our faith, praying with her and for her and believing for healing. Such scriptures as – “By your stripes we are healed”, “Greater is He that is in You than he that is in the world”, and “No weapon formed again you shall prosper” – we encouraged ourselves with His words. Same thing – Thy Will be done as it is in Heaven. Of course, in our hearts, we expected and prayed for full recovery and total healing. To this day, 3 years later, it has happened! We are very grateful for her condition and health now. She is declared free of cancer and God has been so faithful.
I want these words to encourage you – in whatever situation we find ourselves in, we should never, never, NEVER give up calling on the Lord… and the results will always be Right!! He is a righteous God and loves you very, very, very much!!

A Schoolboy’s Life Lesson

In about 1907, nine-year-old Norman was attending a country school, with approximately 35 students. The teacher, being a heavyset gentleman with a roar of a voice, before school quitting time, stood up and went to the blackboard and bellowed to his class, the word “SILENCE”! with his booming voice. Of course everybody went quiet! Then he said to them, “Your homework for tonight will be…” Then he wrote on the chalkboard the words “I CAN’T”. Then he took the chalkboard eraser and barred off the apostrophe and the “T”. And he wrote, “I CAN… do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That was the homework for the night! Well, that statement was imprinted on that young boy’s mind, which he never lost and it guided his life throughout his 9 decades. He became a very positive-minded individual. He wrote best-selling books and magazines, and he was in high demand to give speeches in conferences and other places to thousands of schoolteachers, bankers, lawyers, salesmen, real estate people, industrialists, and so on. He was a man of great influence. He was very positive in his speeches, being inspired all the rest of his life by that very statement he heard as a schoolboy.
May these words be an encouragement to any of us for direction and hope. God bless you! He loves you very, very much!!
