Knitted

Many decades ago when I was 5 years old, during the Great Depression, we lived on a farm a couple of blocks away from Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We used to run over there quite often. And Grandma was old! She was sitting in the rocking chair, I remember, always knitting!!! She had a long dress to the floor, wore little wire-rimmed glasses, and had a hair bun at the back of her head, with two or three knitting needles stuck through it! It was where she kept her knitting needles, and they looked like they were two feet long! She had no teeth and she was chewing gum! Probably somebody gave her a piece of gum! Anyway, she was knitting. And when we would ask her, “What are you knitting Grandma?” it was either a pair of socks, a sweater, mittens, or a toque or something! But she didn’t ever answer “just knitting” – there was a purpose in it, she was creating something!!

I bring this story up because I want to remind us that in Psalm 139, in our mother’s wombs, God’s Word says that He was knitting US into being!!!! I realize that He was just not knitting us together because He had nothing else to do, but He had a purpose and a reason behind the knitting! Furthermore, in the Bible, it says “I have a plan for you, for a hope and a future!” While He was knitting us together, He had a purpose to infuse in us talents, gifts, faith, abilities, destiny, purpose, reason to exist, power, and strength. Therefore, we were created for a purpose. We exist for a purpose. Then we start to grow up and at the age of reason, we begin to think and question why and what our purposes are. One thing we need to know is our purpose in life doesn’t need to be big and flashy like being a prime minister, or any huge titles like that. It could be being a mom, a dad, a teacher, a social worker, a farmer, a janitor, all are very very important in our lives. Or we could be unemployed, disabled, but we are still alive and created in His Image because He loves us! They are all very important because the Creator of Heaven and Earth knitted that in us in the very beginning. And they are all very important because we are unique individuals and each of us has a reason why we exist.

Now as we go through life, many times we will fail, or just bad things happen. But with God, there is always “one more time” or another chance, always! We may have difficulties in different areas, addictions, relationship breakups, we can make poor decisions and mistakes, or things happen to us – catastrophes that bring us poor health or money problems. But God is LOVE. And He is a God of Second Chances, and One More Time!!! We remember the story of Jonah – he could not run away from God’s love!

I heard this story of a young Hebrew king, in the Bible. His father installed him as king as a young boy. He went into the Hebrew temple and threw everything out. He threw out all the worshiping equipment out. He instead furnished the temple with pornography statues, etc. and he was an evil worshiper. And this young king called people into evil worship in the temple, which was very sacred, of course. His heart was wicked and he remained that way for 55 years. But at the end of the 55 years, when he was taken prisoner, under torture, he began to have a heart change. All he did was he cried to the Hebrew Lord that he had thrown out of his life many many years before, and God restored him!!!

The reason I point this out is because there is nothing under the sun that we can commit or do that the Lord God cannot forgive of us. We all have a second chance, and God will visit us One More Time! He is a Forgiver and Forgetter!!! He is a Healer!! And a great Redeemer!!

So today, while Jesus is knocking at your door, let the Holy Spirit in and see the Miracle that He can do for you!!!!!! Remember, He loves you very, very much!!

In His Image

According to Psalm 139, while we were still in our mother’s womb, God the Master Craftsman, the Creator of Heaven and Earth and the Universe, was knitting us together in His Image!! Therefore, we are His Masterpieces, created in His Image!! We hear the description of God – He being Love, present everywhere (omnipresent), all-powerful (omnipotent), and all-knowing (omniscient). This Master Craftsman, who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere, resides in us!! He is sealed in our heart by His Holy Spirit! The scripture is: “Christ IN us, the Hope of Glory!”
As individuals, we are created in His Image, but we are all unique. We know that even twins do not have the same fingerprints! There has never been anyone that has existed on the planet like anyone of us, nor will there ever be! We are unique individuals! Being His Masterpieces made in His Image, we are most valuable, we are talented, we are gifted, we are important, and loved by Him!
Each one of us has been given the ability to fulfill our purpose in life. Whatever it may be. No matter where we came from, our background, or where we are at in life right now. God is able to fulfill our desires, our plans and our hopes for the future! He wants to answer our prayers. Being His children, we can depend on Him to fulfill the plans or desires of our hearts and to answer our prayers.
So having said this, we remember where we came from and Whose we are, and we praise Him today for all His blessings!! Being created in His image, it is a joy and a blessing to praise Him, giving thanks because of His loving ability and desire to meet our needs!
Jesus always stands at the door of our hearts knocking. Let Him in and see what He will do!! Remember, God loves you very, very much!!

Getting Answered Prayers

At the beginning of our need or our want, we ask God for our situation. From that moment on, the seed of the word of our prayer has been sown and planted. First, we believe, then have faith, then trust, and then give thanks. Then we have expectation!!
An older gentleman had been a Christian for years. He had that scripture, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your household also.” He had a grandson, who he cherished and loved and meant the world to him. In school, the grandson got hooked on drugs, and more than that, became a drug pusher and just disappeared. The old fella had difficulty because he never understood that second part to that scripture, “and your household also.” Anyway, the grandson disappeared, and he said all he could do was just thank God for him. Before the old man died, he heard someone had seen his grandson in another city, sitting in the front row of a church with a big Bible! From that, that scripture became true to him – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved… and your household also.” This man had believed the seed had been planted and he watered the seed of his prayer simply by Praising & Thanking God for His grandson.
In the Bible, there is the story of Lazarus and it goes like this – Jesus had three friends, Mary and Martha and his buddy Lazarus. They were a good family to Him. When Jesus was away at a distance, He heard that His good friend Lazarus was sick. So Jesus’ disciples told Him they should go back to him so He could heal him. But that did not happen. The next thing they heard was that Lazarus had died! Now the sisters were crying because they were asking for Jesus to come but He never came! He kept putting it off! Finally, Jesus came up to the town and Lazarus was dead and buried in the tomb. Jesus was crying with them because he so felt for his friends. Then the sisters told Him, only if He would have come sooner, Lazarus would not have died! And Jesus said, “He is not dead – he sleeps.” They said, “No, four days dead – he stinks by now!” So here we see what Jesus did. He gave thanks to God the Father to raise him from the dead and He shouted to Lazarus, and Lazarus came out alive!
Giving thanks, with expectation, is the key in having answered prayers.
The waiting time is a trial of our faith and our trust and our expectation to grow!! We may have a drug addiction or some other addiction we have been fighting with for years, we might have lost our jobs, have a lack in finances, or we might have a loved one with bad news of cancer from the doctor. The key to all this, is not to beg God, but just to believe His promises. We say to Him, You said – “By Your stripes I am healed.” You said – “No weapon formed against me will prosper.” You said – “You shall provide all my needs according to Your riches.” There is no need for begging; we know that by Thanking & Praising God we are watering that seed, EXPECTING His promises to be fulfilled!
Jesus is always standing at the door of our hearts knocking. The only effort we have to do on our part is to Open the Door and let Him in! Enjoy!! Then His Holy Spirit will be our guide and comforter. Remember, God loves you very, very much!!

My Lesson from the Amaryllis

I was watching a well-known psychologist interviewing people and he asked a lady about her marriage. She said she had had four and was looking for a fifth one. So when he asked her what she wanted, she said she wanted love and a joyful marriage, and peace! Well, he suggested some rehab and other things, but that is as far as he could go with her. But these qualities she was looking for – love, joy, and peace – are hardly possible in our human ways to achieve.
Another fellow I heard about, who was a very rich man and had all the earthly belongings you could want, well, he had no peace. So he left a note saying that he might as well go look somewhere else for peace, and he committed suicide.
Humanly speaking, we can work hard at it to get these qualities of love, joy and peace, which are fruits of the Spirit! According to the Bible, the fruits of the Spirit are given to you when you let Jesus into your heart. The spirit comes in, and His role is to grow the fruits of the Spirit within you. We cannot go through life without the fruits of the Holy Spirit. They are only attained by receiving Jesus in our hearts, which seals it, and then the fruit grows. In the Bible, there is the story where Jesus was walking with His disciples, and along the road they saw a fig tree. He was hungry and was looking for figs on it. But there was no fruit. Jesus said that that tree would die. The disciples looked and said to themselves, “He talks to trees!” But we know that Jesus did talk to storms, fish, oceans, and to dead people to resurrect them! Anyway, the story goes that when they came back three days later, the tree was dead. There was no fruit on it, so it died.
So the fruit of the Spirit is God-given to us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, because that is what enables us to live our life, not by human effort, but by Divine Power! The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness; we don’t have to work for them!!!!!!! They grow, like a seed does!
One day my wife walked in from lunch with a little pot of soil that a friend gave her. It was called an Amaryllis flowering plant. Well, I watched that pot of soil for three weeks, and then I “Googled” it, and then waited!! 🙂 and out came a stem the size of my little finger, and it grew to about 18 inches long!! Then it split open and beautiful red flowers came out! They remained there for 3-4 weeks through the Christmas holiday, and then another little stem came up beside that original one, and did the same thing as the first stem! But when it got to the top, there were 4 flowers that bloomed, and the other ones died. Now, I thought, I am going to put my dollars into the One that Created these things!! – the Creator of the Universe, who created us in His image, and then sent His Son and the Holy Spirit to grow fruit in our Spirit, that we may fulfill our purpose or destiny in life here. We can try the other way, without Him, if we want to, but it would be useless. We always remind ourselves how Jesus approached the fig tree. The reason it died is because there was no fruit. In the same way, the fruits of the Spirit will grow in our lives and enable us to live and have all these – love, joy, peace, etc. This takes the focus off of our own hard work to try to attain these fruits.
Remember, I didn’t do anything to the plant – I just watched it!! That is exactly how God the Father sees us, He sees us growing! We are His children; as a matter of fact, we are not called “the Adults of God”, we are called the “Children of God” and He is watching and helping and guiding us to grow!! So let us get in the back seat, relax, and let Him drive! 🙂
Jesus is always standing at the door of our hearts knocking. The only effort we have to do on our part is to Open the Door and let Him in! Enjoy!! Then His Holy Spirit will be our guide and comforter. Remember, God loves you very, very much!!
