Growing up, life operated by laws, rules, and regulations, not yet understanding or knowing personally the Grace of God. “Do this; don’t do that.” It was do’s and don’ts.
Actually, there is nothing wrong with having rules and regulations, but that is not what gets us into a relationship with Jesus. According to scripture, a relationship with Jesus does not come out of keeping the law. Of course, through revelation and a touch from God, we see where we don’t have to keep laws and rules and regulations in order to receive eternal life, once we have a Saviour who can walk us through life by His grace. But that Grace of God we receive, when believing in Him, gives us a desire and a freedom to appreciate those rules and regulations. This scripture from John 1:17 explains it –
“For the law was given through Moses; Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
John 1:14 says:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
As we read in the Bible, from Luke 1:26-28, the following scripture we repeated many times, has a meaning and reality in it, I discovered, when I made friends with Jesus! It goes like this: The Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary on her way home. And this is what he said to her –
Full of Grace (Jesus)
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus – Grace).”
In other words, the Angel Gabriel declared to her right there, she was going to be pregnant with JESUS, THE GRACE and truth of God!
We know that grace is unmerited favour, and undeserved kindness, love, salvation, peace, healing, mercy, and all what the Spirit of Jesus is to us. We cannot do a thing to “earn” our salvation. It says, “not by works, but salvation comes by Grace” – and that is faith in Jesus.
Today, as He knocks at the door of your heart, enjoy His Grace and Love He has for you.
Remember, God loves you very, very much!!
