That Little Light of Mine

“The God who made the world… gives everyone life and breath and everything else…. He is not far from any one of us. ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’” Acts 17:24,27-28.

Growing up, many of us could not understand why we had to serve a God that we did not know who He was! What He wanted, and for what reason? So out of that, we couldn’t serve or worship someone we did not know! We learned as youngsters through our parents and teachers, that our duty was to Adore, Love, and Serve God… that was why God had put us on earth. They had the words right… but our candle had not been lit by Him yet! We didn’t know Him! And it didn’t come out of our heart! My question was, who was that Guy we are serving? Who was He? As far as we were concerned, we thought we were always wrong and we believed He was mad at us, and we were afraid of Him! But when Jesus knocked at the door of our hearts, and we let Him in, and we began to see Him as our Saviour and what He had done for us at the cross to redeem us, our candle was lit and we began to see things differently!! What a peace and a joy and a love that came over me personally! We had not realized that His work on the cross had paid everything – the debt for us – the damage of Adam and Eve, and that He had washed away our sins, past, present and future, plus a free entrance with Him in eternity!!!
“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19.
The part we now understand is we love because He first loved us! Not the other way around! It created in me personally an attitude and a spirit of forgiveness and a desire to love and serve others! Here is the key.

Today, if you can relate to any of what I have shared, as He knocks at the door of your heart, let Him in and He will light your candle! That is the Gift from God the Father to us that Jesus paid at the cross!!

God loves you very, very much,
